APPLICATION PACKETS FOR SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS / EDUCATIONAL AIDES

Below are Application Packets that are required for the positions of Substitute Teaching and Educational Aide (full time or substitute).

NOTE: In order for your name to be placed on the Substitute Teacher or Substitute Educational Aide list your file must be complete.

NOTE: All applicants for a Substitute Teaching License MUST hold a BA degree to receive their license. Your original transcripts need to denote this.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHING

REQUIREMENTS: In order to be placed on the Hardin County Educational Service Center’s substitute list for the current school year, you must have all of the following information on file in the Hardin County Office.

  • Completed Hardin County Educational Service Center Substitute Employment Application Form
  • Copy of your valid Ohio Teaching Certificate/License or Substitute Teaching License
  • Evidence of negative Mantoux II Test (TB) taken within the last 90 days
  • Fingerprints – ALL applicants are required to submit an Ohio BCI and Federal FBI background check report.
    • These can be done, by appointment only, at the Hardin County Educational Service Center office for BCI - $35.00; FBI - $35.00; Both BCI & FBI - $65.00.
    • BCI and FBI checks are valid for 365 days from the date the check was complete.
  • Completed I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form plus two (2) forms of identification
    • Acceptable documents Driver’s License, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate or U.S. Passport.
  • Official transcripts

EDUCATIONAL AIDE

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBSTITUTE EDUCATIONAL AIDES: In order to be placed on the Hardin County Educational Service Center’s Substitute Educational Aides’ list, you must have all of the following information on file in the Hardin County ESC office.

  • Completed Hardin County Educational Service Center Educational Aide Employment Application Form
  • Copy of your Educational Aide Permit
  • Evidence of negative Mantoux II Test (TB) taken within the last 90 days
  • Fingerprints – ALL applicants are required to submit an Ohio BCI and Federal FBI background check report.
    • These can be done, by appointment only, at the Hardin County Educational Service Center office for BCI - $35.00; FBI - $35.00; Both BCI & FBI - $65.00.
    • BCI and FBI checks are valid for 365 days from the date the check was complete.
  • Completed I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form plus two (2) forms of identification

REQUIRED FOR FULL TIME/PART TIME EDUCATIONAL AIDE APPLICANTS ONLY:

  • Evidence of Highly Qualified Paraprofessional: Federal Requirements for Instructional Paraprofessionals.
    Meet one of three criteria:
    1. Complete at least 2 years of study (48 semester or 60 quarter hours as verified by college transcript) at an institution of higher education, OR
    2. Hold an associate’s (or higher) degree, OR
    3. Passing score (456+) on ETS (Educational Testing Service) ParaPro Assessment. Provide the official score report of passing the test from ETS
  • Child Abuse Recognition (6 hour initial)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (initial and updated every 2 years)
  • Maintain a planned sequence of continuing education
