JUVENILE COURT DISPOSITIONS:
If a child is found to be unruly or delinquent, the Court may:
- Place the child in "protective supervision." (The child stays at home with conditions and limitations placed on the child, parent, or any other person.)
- Commit the child to the temporary custody of the Department of Human Services; with either parent, a relative; or the Probation Department for Placement in a Certified foster home.
- Place the child on probation under any conditions that the Court prescribes.
- Suspend or revoke the child's driver's license and registration.
- Impose court costs.
DELINQUENCY ONLY:
- Commit the child to the temporary custody of the school, camp, institution, or other facility for delinquent children (including detention center where the parents may be required to pay all or part of detention costs or child support.)
- Impose a fine and court costs. Court costs are set by State Statute and average $68.00 although costs may significantly exceed that amount. Maximum fines are set by State Statute as follows:
- if the child commits a delinquent act that would be a misdemeanor (minor - $50.00; 4th degree - $75.00; 3rd degree - $125.00; 2nd degree - $175.00; 1st degree - $225.00)
- if the child commits a delinquent act that would be a felony (5th degree - $300.00; 4th degree - $400.00; 3rd degree - $750.00; 2nd degree - $1000.00; 1st degree - 1450.00)
- Order restitution.
